Scimitars ice hockey academy

The Sheffield Junior club is the most successful junior hockey club in the country with a history of winning league and national championships plus many players going on to senior success.

The academy operates ages groups from under 10's, which incorporates development players as young as 4 years old. 2 teams compete at each of the age groups through U12, U14, U16 and U18 along with an English National League Senior Scimitars team (also known as the Spartans).  This expansion ensures that players have a strong structured progression, utilising a wealth of knowledge and experience that the Scimitars Ice Hockey Academy has to offer.

Junior teams compete in the North Midlands conference which covers a region across the north of England and down through the Midlands encompassing teams such as Newcastle,Coventry, Flintshire, Blackburn, Nottingham and Hull to name a few. The club plays out of Sheffield's prestigious IceSheffield facility, recently awarded National Centre of Excellence for ice hockey

How to Join

Players of all ages are welcome to join our club. As a starting point we look for a Skate UK skating ability to a minimum of level 5.

Annual trials take place in the summer for each team. Successful players are then invited to join up with the respective team to the players age group. For players who would like to join up mid season then an individual trial can be arranged at £15 via the development officer or head coach. It is important to note that registration for game eligibility is 31st January, although this is extended for U10s to 30th April. This is an English Ice Hockey ruling and cannot be influenced by the club. Players registered after this date will be insured to train but not eligible to participate in any league games.

Players will be entitled to 1.5hrs of on ice training each week of the season and may at the discretion of the coaches be invited to additional on and off ice sessions throughout the season.
